- REQUIREMENTS:
-
- VTR should run fine on any system (IBM compatible) with 640K
- of RAM (512 may be enough depending on your configuration), and
- any color monitor CGA or better.
-
- A mouse is recommended, but not required...the program IS
- keyboard-friendly.
-
- I recommend running from a hard-drive, but there is no reason
- aside from loss of speed that it should not run from a floppy.
-
- DESCRIPTION:
-
- VTR 1.1 is a program designed to aid in the record-keeping of
- vehicle expenses and mileage for tax purposes or any other
- reason.
-
- It will track up to 5 vehicles and it is easy to update the
- expense catgories or mileages at any time. It also helps to
- avoid some common error-keeping mistakes.
-
- There is also an option to print a Summary Report at any time
- for any of the vehicles being tracked.
-
- We always recommend that records be kept on paper IN ADDITION
- to any computer records for safety.
-
-
- INSTRUCTIONS:
-
- Although VTR is a very easy to use system, here are some
- general instructions:
-
- Opening Screen:
-
- When the program begins you are presented with a menu. You
- can either click on your choice with the mouse OR press the
- number key corresponding with your choice.
-
- If you are running this for the first time, you will get a
- message that "VEH.001" file contains no date, and telling
- you to ADD a vehicle. This is the first thing to be done
- and most of the other options will not be available until
- you have entered data into the 'default' vehicle file, OR
- if you have data in one of the other files, you can Load
- that file.
-
- For ease of use, we recommend you always keep a vehicle in
- "VEH.001" file. In this way, you will not have to always go
- to the LOAD screen first.
-
-
- Load/Add/Delete: (MAIN MENU CHOICE)
-
- At this screen you have the file names, next to which it will
- tell you what vehicle (if any) is in each file. You will come
- here for any of the three tasks listed in the sub-heading above.
-
- First, you will have to choose the task by pressing "L" for
- Load, "A" for Add or "D" for Delete. Or use your mouse to
- click on your choice of these.
-
- ADD:
-
- If Add is chosen, you will be asked for Vehicle Name, Expense
- Categories to date, and Personal and Business mileages to date
- as well as actual vehicle mileage. Then you will be given the
- option to save the file. You cannot choose which file the data
- goes into...it automatically goes into the lowest number empty
- file. The change will be reflected in the file status box.
- Note that adding a vehicle does NOT necessarily LOAD that
- vehicle.
-
- LOAD:
-
- If Load is chosen (and there is data in a file), you will be
- asked to choose the file to load. You can click the file name
- or press the number of the file (1-5). If there is data in the
- chosen file, it will be loaded and you may leave here by
- clicking "Exit" or pressing "E".
-
- DELETE:
-
- If Delete is chosen (and the file contains data), you will
- be asked to choose which file to delete. Follow the same
- instructions for choosing a file as in the above, and the file
- will be removed permanently. Note that deleting a file does
- NOT UNLOAD it if it is LOADED.
-
-
- Add Expenses: (MAIN MENU CHOICE)
-
- Assuming you have loaded and/or added a vehicle, you can now
- choose Add Expenses from the Main Menu.
-
- This will open a screen showing the three expense categories
- with a box for each for New Expenses, and a box for YTD or
- Current figures.
-
- Simply enter any new amounts in the appropriate box, or just
- press [ENTER] on an empty box to move to the next. Note that
- you MAY add smounts in small increments and they will be
- added each time you press [ENTER], until you press [ENTER]
- with no amount in the box.
-
- When done with the last box, press [ENTER] on an empty box
- and you will be prompted to SAVE your new figures.
-
- Add Mileage:
-
- The mileage calculator works much the same as the expense
- calculator except that the first figure here to enter will
- be your finishing mileage. This allows the program to check
- your figures.
-
- As with expenses, you can add mileage in small amounts which
- will incrementally be added to the total new miles, until
- [ENTER] is pressed on a box with no number in it.
-
- Same Save prompt at the end.
-
-
- View Statistics: (MAIN MENU CHOICE)
-
- If this item is chosen, you will be shown mileage stats
- including miles just added, accumulated figures, and a
- business use percentage.
